In a lot of ways our bodies are like machines. They should be taken care of with proper fuel and tended to with regular maintenance. It’s important to be nice to our bodies. That’s why I am grateful for “me” days.
About once a month-or-so, I try to take some time to do something really nice for myself. Sometimes it’s a manicure or pedicure. Sometimes it’s a monthly massage … and don’t forget your regular check-ups. Sometimes it’s a splurge of some sort. Yesterday I took some time for several “me” things.
We flew east for work and fun, so I took advantage of the trip to schedule an appointment with my dentist for a check-up. I’ve held onto the hope that, with regular trips east still on the calendar, I can hold onto my dentist. I adore him! He and his wife have become great friends. His staff is brilliant. My teeth are healthy and happy!

From there, I headed straight to my hair stylist. She is proving impossible to replace. I apparently have finicky hair and Crystal has a magic touch. I’ve tried finding a new stylist in Arizona with little luck. I’m still trying, but I took advantage of the trip to have a fabulous new cut.

Finally, my mom is in Virginia, in an assisted care facility. We speak on the phone, but seeing her face-to-face is important. We chatted, caught up and I got a chance to hug her. It’s a rare treat.

The whole day was taking care of me. My body and soul are refreshed. I am filled with joy.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Take the time to take care of yourself so you can keep on exploring.
