Greg says I like game night so much because I always win. In the spirit of one-upmanship, my typical retort is, “I win because I’m smarter.” It’s not true, but I’m grateful he lets me get away with it.
For us, game night is whenever we decide we’re tired of movies or TV. Our go-to game is Scrabble, although we’ve been known to grab Yahtzee or Trivial Pursuit or any number of games in our closet.
To be fair, we keep our phones handy when we play scrabble to double check our spelling. We also have little cheat sheets with two- and three-letter words listed. But, for the most part, it’s a game of vocabulary creativity for us.
We both do crossword puzzles, love to write and tell stories, and love to challenge each other with words, so Scrabble games are competitive, but fun.
So, as the dinner dishes are cleared from the table, consider grabbing a game from your own closet and taking a night off from technology. It can be loads of fun and laughs.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Don’t forget to pack a deck of cards to fill an evening in a hotel.
