As I sit at my computer each day typing the next morning’s blog, I find it somehow easier and easier to come up with some little thing to be grateful for. Today, I am particularly grateful for my pool.
For many people, writing about swimming in January seems out of season. For us, a simple flip of a switch in the pool equipment means pretty much year-round swimming in our desert backyard.
Normally, we wouldn’t heat the pool when the overnight lows dip down into the 40s, but we have friends from Ohio visiting us and being able to get into the pool in the mid-day warmth is a treat for them while they watch the snow dust their front walkway on their doorbell camera.

So, we cranked the heat, grabbed the pool noodles and spent a couple of afternoons floating, chatting and soaking up the sun’s rays.
It’s a great way to help them escape the hectic pace of the daily grind back home … and it’s great fun for us to delight in a warm dip with friends. We are always ready to serve up a poolside cocktail, but when you throw in guests you rarely see, it adds to the joy and reminds me to be grateful.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Delight in good company once in a while.

I did three years of daily affirmations to reshape my outlook. It worked. I am following you, and it will be fun seeing how this progresses for you.
It may reach a time when sharing matters far less, but please continue. For some it will be instructive and helpful, for many of us, it will be entertaining.
