Gratitude and Joy

Day 50 – A Year of Gratitude and Joy – Valentine’s Day – Greg

A lot of people who know me will tell you how happy I always seem to be. I have learned to be an optimist. It wasn’t easy, but I make a conscious effort to choose happiness and I do my best to stay away from things that upset me.

Much of my ability to be smiling all the time and able to spread joy is due to the love of a great man.

This crazy guy tried on a pair of shades once in a store and got tweeted!

When he came into my life I was on autopilot. I was in a rut so deep I didn’t even know it was a rut. Greg embraced the inner me. He saw the smile behind the #$@hy resting face and helped me bring it out.

It’s incredibly easy to smile when someone’s got your back!

You had to figure at some point in my year-long journey to share reasons to be grateful and joyous that I would tag my husband. What better day to do that than on Valentine’s Day?

He joins me on my wild adventures … and the not-so-wild ones.

He buys me flowers, surprises me, shares my love of cooking, and never fails to tell me I’m beautiful.

He surprised me with roses on one of our first trips together.

He’s my editor (but not this one, since it’s a surprise – so excuse any typos) and supports my love of writing, travel and … well … everything.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Darling … I am grateful for you and the joy you continue to bring to my life.

There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. I hope you have someone you love to share your adventures.
