Gratitude and Joy

Day 134 – A Year of Gratitude and Joy – A Day Off (Sort of)

When you blog about gratitude every single day several things happen: you begin to appreciate the little things more, you find yourself remembering to take a quick snapshot of things that bring you joy and you find yourself grateful for the occasional day off. I keep trying to get a day or two ahead in my blog writing. After all, I remind myself, vacation is right around the corner and I want to be able to relax and have fun and not worry about taking my laptop or tablet so I can write and post a blog every day.

Yet here I am, very early on a Monday morning, wondering what I am going to post today. Then it hit me … post a blog about taking a day off! OK … that’s not exactly true. I thought about it yesterday and decided to take Mothers Day off – sort of. I did ask Greg to snap a few pics of me so I could wake up early and pretend to have taken the day off.

So here’s what I do when I take the day off:

I did check facebook and got great new pics of my grandkids.
I spent some time lazing around with a crossword puzzle.
My neighbor snapped a pic of me (hidden in the corner) and what was left after we ate dinner.

It was a fun, relaxing day. We enjoyed a lazy morning, had friends over in the afternoon and spent the evening catching up on a couple of TV shows we like. It was a day like many others — but I never sat down at my computer.

There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. It’s a lot more fun when you take some time off to explore it.
