Gratitude and Joy

Day 216 – A Year of Gratitude and Joy – Winning the Mega Millions

We went online last night at 8pm to watch the Mega Millions drawing. I’d bought three tickets for the $1.3 Billion (yeah – billion with a “B”) drawing. I figured a $6 gamble was worth the risk. I even chose the numbers on one ticket.

The balls fell out of the hopper and into the chute … “13, 36, 45, 57, 67, and the mega ball 14“

A single winner takes home the second-largest prize in Mega Millions history.

I stared at our tickets. I gasped with excitement! We’d won the Mega Millions!!

OMG! We won!!

OK, so it wasn’t the WHOLE Mega Millions jackpot. It was only the Mega Ball, but we won something! I pondered options for our big $2 win … pocket the windfall? Reinvest in a ticket for the next drawing? Splurge on something crazy (like a candy bar??)

Maybe I’ll buy myself a donut! (Photo courtesy: Pexels.com)

Greg and I had a laugh about it and, at the time, wondered if anyone had won the huge prize? I seem to remember that often these big prizes end up with multiple winners who have to share. Gee, I’d be OK with sharing a BILLION dollars. Hahaha.

This morning, as I sat to write this silly blog, I checked the Mega Millions page. Someone in Illinois won the prize. I have lots of friends in Illinois and I wonder if it may be someone I know. That would be fun. In the meantime, my life goes on with gratitude and joy for all I have.

Winning that prize would certainly change your life and, upon reflection, I really don’t want my life to change. So I’m OK with not winning …. Although my plans for a private chartered jet to Fiji for a vacation will probably never come to pass.

There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Keep on dreaming, but don’t let it take away from living your life joyfully!
