I’d like to believe I am careful about what I eat. Especially since we moved to Arizona, Greg and I are making a concerted effort to eat fresher foods and make more things from scratch. We enjoy cooking together creating new menus.
But all that goes out the window when we travel. We spend, as expected, way too much time in restaurants.
We eat junk food because we are out and about during the day and it’s easy.
We order pizza delivery because we’re just too wiped out from a long day.
We snack on sugar bombs and soda in the car because road food just seems like the right thing to do.

To be fair, we do make an attempt to stay in places with kitchens, like Residence Inn and Towne Place Suites, so we can make our own food. We even do that regularly.

But there are absolutely cheat days when we travel. We splurge on junk. We indulge in the less-than-healthy options that are convenient. I’m grateful to be healthy enough that the occasional ill-advised meal or snack won’t ruin me and joyful to be able to treat myself.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Splurge on yourself once in a while.
