If you had asked me five years ago if I did any kind of drug, I would’ve said, “Does wine count?” Of course, there was always the occasional cocktail. But alcohol was the only thing I ever used. Then we moved here.
I remember early on when Greg went to the doctor for his knee. He came home and gave me the prognosis (all good) and told me he had declined the doctor’s offer for marijuana for the discomfort. I joked and told him he was an idiot. I had always wanted to try it and in Arizona at the time, you could only get it for medical purposes.
Then the law changed. Friends with a vast knowledge of the different strains of pot, the different ways to get high and the willingness to share that information came to visit. We chose a dispensary and went shopping.

From there it was time to experiment. With everyone else’s help (I’d smoked a few times in high school, but never done any kind of drugs) I tried smoking. It took no time at all to discover I am not a smoker. The high was fun; the burning in my chest was not! It was time to give edibles a shot.

Apparently I am a giggler. When the gummy kicked in I laughed and laughed and had a great time. I slept like a baby! I awoke with no ill effects at all. Our friends told us that was what makes getting high so great … no hangover.
I’m certainly not going to give up my wine and cocktails, but we keep a few gummies on hand for those times we’d rather experience a pot high. In a million years I never expected to enjoy weed, but I’m having a lot of fun learning the different types. I’m grateful for those people who know enough to teach me the ways and happy to be able to try new things without fear.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.
