As I consider all the things I am grateful for, I realize gratitude is easy to break down into the little things.
New Year’s, for instance, brought a day of little joys. A neighbor invited us over for a traditional southern dinner of black eyed peas and cornbread.
We strolled down to their home under blue skies and a light breeze. A dozen or so of us gathered, greeting each other with wishes for a happy 2022.
We chatted easily and shared a homemade meal to kick off the year. As the shadows lengthened, we headed home, leaving the others to continue the celebration.
So, today, I am grateful for easy days with friends. A simple joy to kick off a new year.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Enjoy the simple things.

I’m envious of the community you have. I miss it very much.
I used throw a New Years Day party with porkloin and sauerkraut, black-eyed peas and cornbread and the key ingredients…… friendship and love.
