Gratitude and Joy

Day Seven – A Year of Gratitude and Joy – Easy Days with Friends

As I consider all the things I am grateful for, I realize gratitude is easy to break down into the little things.

New Year’s, for instance, brought a day of little joys. A neighbor invited us over for a traditional southern dinner of black eyed peas and cornbread.

Homemade cornbread, fresh from the oven.

We strolled down to their home under blue skies and a light breeze. A dozen or so of us gathered, greeting each other with wishes for a happy 2022.

Black eyed pea soup. Comfort food, warm hearts and good friends go together.

We chatted easily and shared a homemade meal to kick off the year. As the shadows lengthened, we headed home, leaving the others to continue the celebration.

Remnants of a joyous New Year celebration.

So, today, I am grateful for easy days with friends. A simple joy to kick off a new year.

There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Enjoy the simple things.

  1. I’m envious of the community you have. I miss it very much.
I used throw a New Years Day party with porkloin and sauerkraut, black-eyed peas and cornbread and the key ingredients…… friendship and love.
