I am grateful for organization. This time of year there are dozens of websites that offer tips and tricks to get better organized. I scan them regularly, but I find fewer and fewer things that make me think, “oh, that’s a great idea.” That’s because I’ve done so many of them.
OK … let’s be honest here … being a little crazy about organization allows me to be supremely lazy. If everything is right where it needs to be, you don’t have to spend time looking for it. If you have the right set-up, it’s easy to put stuff away.
If you’re thinking about it, here are a couple of tips. Start by taking the time and indulging in the thoughtfulness of organizing. Figure out what you need and where you need it. You can start with inexpensive baskets and bins from the dollar store and, if you want to, upgrade slowly.
Amp up your organization with labels. Get yourself a label maker and go nuts labeling everything. It’s fun … and as a bonus, this is a task the kids will delight in sharing with you.
It’s not just about the kitchen. I’ve got bins of the stuff I use to travel under the bathroom sink so when I’m packing for a trip it’s all in one convenient location.
Getting organized makes it easier to stay organized. Bins, buckets, baskets and jars are great ways to get started. Then once you settle on what works for you, go ahead and get a little crazy. I’m grateful for taking the time to get my life organized. It brings me joy and it looks great, too.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Adventures are easy when you have what you need and know where to find it.
