Day 78 – A Year of Gratitude and Joy – Al Fresco Dining

There’s something special about dining al fresco. If you’re not 100% sure of what that is, al fresco means “in the open air.” It’s a nice way of simply saying eating outside. For me, it applies on gorgeous sunny days when the weather is just right, the breeze is softly blowing and birds sing in the background.

A recent Sunday morning we awoke to a stunning sunrise. The forecast called for highs around 80℉. Neighbors asked if we wanted to join them at our community grill for brunch. We didn’t hesitate to accept the offer.

It was a little cool at 9:45am, but by the time we took our seats, the sun was warming the world and the blue sky dominated our view.

Blue skies and mountains.

Our waitress delivered water and our first round of appropriate brunch beverages as we chatted easily, basking in the sunshine.

Waters for everyone … and a “get started” drink.

We ordered our meal and laughed away the 20-or-so minutes until the food was delivered. As I looked down at my eggs, bacon and toast, the bright sunshine reflected back at me. The temperature was perfect, the food was delicious, the company superb.

Two eggs over easy with bacon and toast in the sunshine.

We enjoyed more conversation and a second round of drinks before heading home to while away a picture perfect day. It was a blissful, easy start to the day.

There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Take the time to relax and enjoy a perfect dining day outside once in a while.
