Yesterday was pretty much the perfect day. It was one of those days where things just run smoothly all day long and at the end of the day you look around and feel grateful for your life and joyful to be living it.
The funny thing is I woke up a few minutes later than normal with no idea what to write for my blog of the day. At 6:15am I looked at the clock and thought, “well, in 45 minutes I’m supposed to post a blog … about what??” Then, inspiration struck and boom … it flowed onto the paper with ease. It won’t win any awards, but I’m happy with it.
From there it was off to run errands with Greg. Let’s face it, when the first errand of the day is a massage, it tends to set a pretty good tone. Greg and I take turns with our therapist, so while he was getting rubbed and relaxed, I headed to the store to pick up a few things. Much to my surprise, nearly everything I was searching for was on sale! YAY!
We pulled into the gas station and used our $1 off Fry’s fuel rewards, filling our tank for about $40. That was a nice treat. Then home to take care of a few things we’d been putting off. Greg worked in the garage while I added a wallpaper backsplash to my baking station. It was unexpectedly easy and made the whole thing look SO much better.
We popped the cork on a bottle of Chianti in celebration of National Chianti Day and whipped up a little sausage and pasta dish for dinner while we sang along with the radio and chatted about nothing and everything.
As dinner cooked, the sunset illuminated the sky while a storm moved around us from the north, skirting our neighborhood to the west, but flashing lightning in the clouds and whipping up a little breeze.
The sunset lit up the looming clouds. Lightning flashed brightly in the distance.
We sat down to eat and noticed a suspicious silence coming from Enzo. We’ve been working on teaching him not to beg and it appears an exhausting day helped out with that. He fell asleep on his little bed. It gave us the opportunity to break out the Scrabble game and play a round.
As we struggled with unlucky letter choices, I realized it had been a perfect day. It wasn’t spectacular or noteworthy, rather it was one of those days that is just right and leaves you feeling happy and peaceful.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Enjoy a perfect day.
