Gratitude and Joy

Day 266 – A Year of Gratitude and Joy – Sunday Morning Traffic

I am not a fan of early morning flights. Mostly that is due to the fact that I do not like having to set an alarm and get up WELL before the sun. But, sometimes you just don’t have a choice.

Such was the case this morning. Well before most of the world was awake, the alarm chimed and Greg and I groaned. Our 7am flight home meant we needed to be up and on the road by 4:30 to get to the airport in time to drop off the rental and check in with Enzo. Luckily for Enzo, he slept through most of it.

Enzo stayed covered up and slept through the drive.

We’re seasoned travelers so it was easy to throw those morning things we needed into our bags and be out on time. A few miles up the road we turned onto the interstate and headed north to the airport.

There were very few cars on a roadway that is usually wall-to-wall traffic.

One of the things that makes these early mornings tolerable is the utter and complete lack of traffic. As we drove, we agreed that it was entirely due to it being Sunday morning.

Closer to the airport it was clear the world was still asleep.

We got to the airport in record time, dropped the bag and made it to the lounge with enough time for me to get this blog written while Greg enjoyed some puppy snuggles with his coffee.

Even the lounge was sparsely populated this early.

In a few hours we will be home. It will be early enough for us to enjoy the day, unpack and relax. For that I am immensely grateful. Travel brings me joy … but so does getting home.

There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. Set the alarm and get up early to get the most out of the day.
