COVID-19 has officially ruined my plan!
Our May culinary expedition to Italy is canceled. Well, to be fair, it’s postponed. It was way too much fun planning to cancel forever. With COVID rules and restrictions changing almost daily in the world, we are sticking with US travel.
What does that mean? It means instead of last year’s “S” trip being an anomaly, it’s being taken out of the “ABC the world” plan and I’m declaring a two-year (at least) hiatus. When the world is open again, we will pick up at “S” where we left off. When I started my quest to see the world alphabetically, it was with the clear intent that I would see the world outside the 48 contiguous states first. When that plan was done … I had planned to start over within the continental US.
We moved up the US version last year … starting with A is for Aviation. That means once we can pull out our passports and start traveling internationally, we’ll be taking two trips with two different letters each year. Planning travel, after all, requires a little direction (pun intended!)
Putting international travel on hold also means I’m planning several epic road trips. We’re mapping out routes to hit many of the quintessential western National Parks. I’ve never been to Yellowstone or seen Mt. Rushmore, so those are items I will be able to cross off my bucket list.
For you, it means loads more locations to read about that you can get to by car. Sure … some of them may take several days, but it’s a big country. I’d love to hear about where you’re headed and what you’d like to read about .. so leave me a comment or suggestion below.
There’s a whole world out there just waiting to be explored. I’ll keep finding fun places to share.
